» Denny Walley

Oh Denny Boy will be back again!

Our first chance to see him was at Zappanale #19 with the PGSOR and the Finnish Zappa Tribute Band, then again this year together with Project Object, Sheik Yerbouti, The Grande Mothers and Mats & Morgan: And Denny Walley's coming back again! He is looking forward to it because he loves to play the music of Frank Zappa with a lot of bands and thereby preserve it - and in exchange we love him.

Long time ago Jim 'Motorhead' Sherwood got him into one of the plenty formations of Frank Zappa, whom he knew since childhood but until then never joined him hitting the strings. At this time Zappa was looking for a slide guitar player and invited Denny to a band rehearsal. There he was and the first title which he was supposed to play with Terry Bozzio, George Duke, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Tom Fowler and Frank Zappa was „Advance Romance“. That was complaisant for him because he didn't tune his guitar by accident in G major and this was a piece of blues music. Everything fit, and so did he and got the job.

On the albums Bongo Fury, Joe's Garage, Tinseltown Rebellion, You Are What You Is and Thing-Fish, as well as on the  BTB_Bootlegs Anyway The Wind Blows, Saarbrücken 1978 and At The Circus he performes as singer and/or guitarist. And of course on several samplers which Zappa arranged himself or which have been released posthumously.

On his solo album „Spare Parts“ he recorded amongst others the tracks „Suicide Chump“ and „Bamboozled By Love“ with Mats Oberg, Morgan and Jimmy Agren as well as Rolf Hedquist.

Denny's first performance is already set: He will be on stage together with the Blues Band Don Condor & The Texas Outpost and let glide his bottleneck over the strings. More performances as guest musician will happen certainly.
