Frank Zappa himself became attentive to the Scrutinizers because of two VHS cassettes which he came to see. Through Gerry Fialka and Fabio Massari he contacted them, and during an interview on MTV in 1991 he praised the band: "they are still playing with heart, it's not for the money."
In the 70's Pappon's musical development stood under great influence of Zappa. But also Mahavishnu Orchestra, Focus, King Crimson, Yes and Gong (!) played a decisive role.
The Central Scrutinizer Band is a pure Zappa cover band. Some of the members are also playing in other formations (Karnak) or letting off steam in solo projects. Pappon published some of his zappaesk and fusion oriented work on CD and DVD, and there's a DVD from the Scrutinizers, recorded 2008 at a concert in their hometown. On the Unmatched series on vol. 8 they provide the title Andy. The most biggest adventure seems to be the performance together with Ike Willis in 1997 in Sao Paulo with 30,000 spectators.
I hope that the guys will have the opportunity on Zappanale to perform on stage with one or the other of the former "comrade-in-arms" of the master.
