20 years of Arf-Society – we think that this is an excellent occasion to announce the surprise we promised you. The LineUp of this band wouldn't cause a stir on any Zappa album. But nearly 20 years after Frank Zappa passed away this gathering of Zappa Alumni in August 2013 in a small location in nothern Germany is without doubt an outstanding affair.
We may present you on this year's Zappanale „Banned from Utopia“.
They will be performing as headliner on Saturday. This means that we have to revise some parts of the program.
And this is the actual LineUp from „Banned from Utopia“:
Robert Martin - vocals, keyboards, saxophone, french horn
Ray White - vocals, guitar
Ed Mann - mallets, percussion
Tom Fowler - bass
Albert Quon Wing - tenor sax, flute
Mike Miller - guitar
Ralph Humphrey - drums
ArfArfArf
... and a hefty Arf Arf! to all those of you who set out for Zappatown this year for the first time.
Sometimes a promoter gets an offer which will only happen once in a lifetime. And in the course of time a festival program has been developped which is different from the original planning.
So we got two news for you, which are not so nice and one which even stunned us.
First we need to tell you that neither Tarentatec will play at this year's Zappanale (also due to bad schedule) nor the Grandsheiks. We are really unhappy about it but we hope to get both bands for Zappanale #25.
Now the good news: The following words are not our own but from a musician who will arrive with many top-class colleagues:
"Exciting News! Watch for a BIG announcement this coming Monday about Zappanale 24!"
So Monday we will herald something what we never believed ourselves: It's just utopian that we ever may announce this band.
Saturday we will have a headliner on our small but nice festival where you will watch the stage - under a spell.
And be prepared for a Goodbye-Session on Sunday like you never experienced before.
Anything else? Zappanale needs your input. So we like to say a big THANK YOU for your multifaceted propositions and ideas. Some of them are already realized. Look forward to the new shaped festival ground and wait and see...
... in this spirit: music ist he best
