With their bold approach to string music and exciting stage presence, Fuse is one of the most popular instrumental formations coming from The Netherlands. Utilizing their signature line-up (a string quartet with double bass and drums) the Amsterdam-based sextet is able to evolve from their classical and jazz roots, and bring a unique style to the stage. Both written and improvised music are organically part of the band's technically complex but catching crossover live-sets.
Fuse finds it's origins as trailblazers of an upcoming classical music movement in Amsterdam. A group of like-minded music students decides to organize their own concerts series. For two years they successfully hosted monthly club-nights, which became an important kick-of for the group. In 2015, Fuse was invited to become the house band for a popular Dutch TV-show about classical music and related genres. It marked their breakthrough to the general public and in 2019 Fuse was rewarded the Dutch Edison Public Choice Award.
The group appeared multiple times on Dutch daily talkshows and featured on public radio, in newspapers and magazines. Since 2016 Fuse released three studio albums containing music by Béla Bartók, Nils Frahm, Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Maurice Ravel, Michel Petrucciani among others.
In 2024 Fuse' 4th studio album "Mikrokosmos" will be released. This project sets a new mark for the ensemble, with brand new music collaboratively created by Fuse and composers such as Bryce Dessner (The National), Miho Hazama (Metropole Orchestra), Gabriel Kahane, Joey Roukens and Morris Kliphuis among others.
