The Dangerous Kitchen (D)
The Dangerous Kitchen: Zappa with a twist!
The chefs from the Ruhr area have been working on the complex, brilliant and sometimes wonderfully silly music of Frank Zappa since 2012. The first concert took place in 2012 - after that, lots of school trips to the Zappa universe followed and the Ruhr area's supply of Zappa material was secured.
The next year the direct accolade followed: Zappanale 2013! And now, 12 years and 50 concerts later, they are returning to show what a proper Ruhr area kitchen can conjure up.
“The Dangerous Kitchen” are:
- Holger Auer (lead vocals)
- Martin Lelgemann (keyboards)
- Jörg Eschrig (guitar, backing vox)
- Daniel Neustadt (bass)
- Michael Koball (Marimba & Vibes, backing vox)
- Guido Montag (trumpet)
- Ferdinand Rexforth (saxophone)
- Romel Stoica (trombone)
- Tarik Dosdogru (drums, backing vox)
With brass section, marimba and vibraphone as well as multi-part vocals, The Dangerous Kitchen deliver an incredibly rousing live experience that not only delights Zappa fans. In their tribute, they are not afraid to spice up Zappa’s pieces with their own creativity and have recently developed a love of theatricality, and the current events in the land of the brave and the free also provide enough reasons for this...
“The Kitchen” has everything in its repertoire. The nine musicians deliver everything that Zappa has to offer, from rock pieces that appeal to the majority to the most complicated fusion avant-garde.
On tour, the guys have a preference for special places and rough diamonds in the West German concert scene: a hairdresser's salon, a deconsecrated church, a backyard in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf, a gig with a brewery tour... the crazier, the better.
"The Dangerous Kitchen" bring enormous joy in playing and attention to stylistic detail to the Zappanale - with a lot of oomph!
