My real name is Geoff Pointer, Turbulator is my conceptual continuity.
Always been a composer. Application has been spasmodic: life concerns to deal with beyond the reach of music; other interests; making a living. Played guitar since twelve; serious music study since twenty ; piano since late thirties; drum kit, alto and bari sax since April 2018. Since that date, music is my main thing, until I drop. It's now about creating concept albums, doing everything myself.
The first album out of this new phase in my life is "Delusions Of Grandeur", released in June 2024. There are more to come, including an album of Zappa arrangements.
My gig at Zappanale is an introduction to what Turbulator is about. As it will be in real time, I'll be playing solo, no loops, no backing, no sound effects, no overdubs. Mostly guitar and voice, but interspersed with some solo alto sax and solo piano. My first live gig in more than twenty years. I want to present my own music, but I also have some Zappa arrangements planned.
